Taking a cue from those Mason Dixon girls Ann & Kay, I'm taking some time to do some easy, no stress knitting; namely, hemp washcloths. I tinkered with the numbers on one of the bazillion different free washcloth patterns on the internet, and have been cranking out some lovely scrubby cloths for the bath. They're eco-friendly (no more non-biodegradable plastic bath poofs), easy to make, and can be thrown in the washer & dryer with the towels (no bleach, please). One skein of LanaKnits Allhemp 6 will make at least 2 washcloths. Sound like fun? The pattern is free with the purchase of Allhemp 6.

Come in this week to see the Getting Started Knitting Socks Trunk Show! See knitted socks from the book, and get a spark for sock knitting! This is a great book for beginner and experienced sock knitters alike.
And to feed those creative fires, here's two new sock yarn arrivals! First, we have the new Opal Collection, Mississippi, all featuring speckled stripes of cheerful color:
And new Rio de la Plata handpainted sock wool from Uraguay! Soft superwash merino in luscious handpainted color, with great yardage:
As a tactile person, I also have to say that the Rio yarn comes in satisfyingly fat, smooshy pull skeins. Yes, you can squeeze the sock yarn!
