25 May 04 - 14:41Stitch & Bitch/New Arrivals

Come join us at Stitch & Bitch this Thursday, May 27th, from 6 to 8:30pm!

We've had a few new arrivals since last week that I wanted to show you, despite my camera's best efforts against me (dead batteries).  So please excuse the slightly sketchy scans.  First up, gorgeous Carneval from Muench:

Carneval is a cotton/Rayon blend ribbon that alternates between thick matte cotton spaces and a shiny rayon "split ribbon" in between.  Two skeins would make a great scarf on size 13-17 needles.

Also from Muench is Sir Galli, a worsted weight raw silk in earthy, muted tones:

Sir Galli knits up on size 7 or 8 needles, and would be great for tank tops, tees, or cardigans.  Two great summer patterns in stock are Knitting Pure & Simple's Summer Cardigan:

Or Oat Couture's Bistro Shirt:

Both patterns call for basic worsted weight yarns, and are fairly simple to knit.   Make yourself a great cotton or silk garment you can wear three seasons (or all year for some folks) in our Southern climate!

What's on my needles right now?  A cable and eyelet cardigan from the Spring/Summer 2004 issue of Vogue Knitting:

Here's mine, in Debbie Bliss Wool Cotton:

More pictures soon!

14 May 04 - 11:37Nature Cotton Poncho

Wanna Poncho?  Check out Amy Singer's Nature Cotton Poncho pattern at her blog.  It takes 6 skeins of my new favorite cotton, and is a pretty simple pattern.

Amy is the editrix of Knitty , an online knitting magazine.  If you haven't seen this great free mag yet, go check it out!
