21 December 04 - 17:03Holiday Greetings from Knit Nouveau!

HOLIDAY GREETINGS FROM KNIT NOUVEAU!!!

Santa came to give us a surprise accordion concert today; I spent a good part of the day sitting outside in the lovely weather enjoying the christmas carols while knitting.  Thanks, Santa!  You play beautifully!  My favorite songs: "Pretty Paper" & "You Are My Sunshine" (I know the last one's not exactly Christmas, but I love that song).  What a treat!

Don't forget, our Holiday Party Stitch n' Bitch is this Thursday, December 23rd, from 6-8:30pm.  Bring your project and join us for holiday festivities and fun!

10 December 04 - 19:04knitted goodies

Don't forget, our sample sale begins Saturday!  Many of our knitted model scarves, shawls, and even a few sweaters will be available for sale.  These make great handmade gifts even if your hands didn't have the time to make them!

The new newsletter has been e-mailed/mailed out, but if you have an AOL e-mail address, it may not have gotten to you due to technical problems between our webservice and AOL's spam controls.  To get your copy, just hit the newsletter button to your left and download it directly.  We may or may not be able to resolve this with AOL, so if you can provide us with an alternate e-mail address, we would be glad to update your info on our mailing list.  To update your info, please send me an e-mail to mercedes@knitnouveau.com that includes your current e-mail info, name, and the new e-mail address where you would like your newsletter sent.

02 December 04 - 11:41Busy, busy bee... & a sheep

As many of you know, it's been crazy around the shop lately, with Holiday gift knitting in full swing.  It's also the season for gift giving for knitters, too!  We have gotten in great shipments from Lantern Moon, Denise Interchangable Needles, and several book shipments!

Our new class schedule has been posted, we've added two more classes for the middle of December, Entrelac and Cables.

Our two newest books are Shadow Knitting, by Vivian Hoxbro and Stitch n' Bitch Nation, by Debbie Stoller.  Here's a peak:

Shadow Knitting is a technique that alternates garter & stockinette stitch in a striped pattern to create "hidden" patterns that reveal themselves when viewed at an angle.  When viewed straight-on, these patterns disappear into a striped pattern.  It sounds complex, but is actually a very simple technique!

Stitch n' Bitch Nation is so blindingly popular (for good reason, it's a fab book!) that it is already in reprint, so if you want a copy of this now, now, now, call me ASAP to reserve a copy.  Once we run out, I will take names and phone numbers for a reserve list for January's shipment.  This new SnB book has 50 (!) patterns, plus instructions on converting guage on an existing pattern, creating your own patterns, and other advanced techniques.

Isn't this little poncho as cute as a bug?  Mine!

We received a huge Lantern Moon shipment yesterday, full of bags, baskets, needle cases, and more!

More Drawstring Silk Lined Boxes, in red, natural & blue, and natural & jade:

Wooden-handled Palm leaf totes, in green, cinnamon, and black (the books are beautiful new knitting journals, great for project notes):

Twisted Palm Round Totes lined in black, turquoise, or lime:

Silk Needle Cases in a wide variety of colors:

And last but not least, fleecy sheep tape measures!  Adorable!
