Technical stuff first:
The website was down for most of yesterday (maintenance or troubleshooting by our webhosting company), so if you sent me an e-mail on Thursday, I did not get it. Re-send when you get the chance, or call me at the shop. Thanks!
So, you say you're looking for incredibly soft superwash merino yarn? I think we have some around here somewhere. Let me check these new Karabella boxes:

What colors do we have it in? Almost every color!

We also have the sportweight version, Aurora 4. This yarn is so soft and squishy, it would make amazing baby things or beautiful accessories.

We now have sweater quantities of Aurora 8 in a gorgeous range of colors. Once you make a garment out of this luxury merino, you may never want anything else!

So the Wave Skirt I started out of Interweave Knits many moons ago is finally complete! After living in limbo land (AKA: the bottom of a Knit Nouveau bag) for a few months I present the Finished Object:

(Unfortunately, when you photograph your own lower limbs, they almost always look Oompah-Loompah-like. Aack.)
The close-up, with more accurate colors:

What was holding me back on this lovely item was the @#%& lace edging. It actually wasn't all that complex, but it had patterning on both right and wrong side rows, so every time I got distracted from my knitting (read, every five minutes. Y'all don't have that problem, do you? Ha.) I would immediately lose my place and have a mini-stroke. And a swearing fit.
An handy lace-knitters trick came to the rescue on this one, namely, cheat sheets! I want to share this with all of you readers because it makes any lace pattern about ten times more enjoyable and portable. You write out the pattern repeat for each row on its own separate index card, hole punch them in a corner and bind them with a book-ring closure from the office-supply store.

As you finish each row, flip the card over and knit the next row in the sequence. Knit, flip, repeat. Ingenious. If you need to stop, take it with you, etc. clip the stack together with a paper clip or binder clip to keep your place. This trick is so simple but it saves so much potential grief. Now we can knit lace without being crabby! Yay! I'm currently knitting the Flower Basket Shawl using my notecards, and it's laceknitting bliss. I'm doing my Flower Basket in Cherry Tree Hill's Supersock, in Old Rose.
The new fall Berroco yarns came in today...

One of the new yarns, Foliage, a gorgeous thick and thin self-striping wool blend came accompanied by a lovely throw called "Kim Chi", done in mitered squares. I really wanted a throw for the sofa, hurray! I'll put up more Berroco pics soon, or come by for a first hand view.

And now, because you've read all the way to the end of this entry, you get puppy glamour shots:

Meet Cosmo, Tammy's new bulldog pup. He came on Saturday to hang out with us! (Note the familiar brown bag. He'll fit right in.)

08 August 05 - 16:09Comments Fixed!
I just discovered that the comments have apparently not been letting people through for the better part of a month.
They should be fully operational again, but I apologize to those of you who couldn't post a comment. If you have any more problems you can always let Mercedes know at mercedes at knitnouveau dot com or email me directly at admin at knitnouveau dot com. Again, I'm sorry for the problems, but we've had to be very aggressive about comment spam and occasionally it backfires on us.
