Rowan is here! We have Summer Tweed and Calmer in stock, plus the new Rowan Magazine. I tried to take pictures, but they were hopelessly out of focus. I'll try again and post pics over the weekend. Note-Nevermind about the pics, I'm on my laptop and the website won't let me post my blurry pictures. I'll have to try again later anyway!

I couldn't wait to dig into the Calmer (like buttah!), so I cast on for the Shedir cap from Knitty. This yarn is the softest, stretchiest cotton EVER! I also knit up a tank in Summer Tweed; the colors are luscious, and the yarn is crisp and summery. Lovely!

And we received ArtYarn's Silk Rhapsody, a hand-dyed combo of one strand mohair, one strand silk:

I think a simple one-skein shawl would be gorgeous in this. There's also a beautiful pattern for it in the new issue of Vogue Knitting.

New items have arrived!

Laurel, a hand-dyed mercerized cotton has arrived from Schaeffer Yarns. This worsted weight is great for summer tanks or baby items:

The new Mason Dixon Knitting book is due to arrive this week! If you'd like us to hold a copy, call us at the shop and we'll be glad to set one aside for you when the shipment arrives.

And in case you haven't heard the news around the shop, Ann and Kay from Mason Dixon Knitting will be coming to visit us on Wednesday, April 19th at 7pm. Isn't it exciting?

We received a new batch of Shepherd Sock from Lorna's Laces:

And since it was slow at the shop while y'all were livin' it up over Spring Break, I took the time to learn a new (to me) stitch pattern. Meet two-color Brioche Ribbing:

Isn't it lovely in all of it's two-toned, reversible glory? I'm making a hat in SWTC's Bamboo and Debbie Bliss' Cathay. Right now it's smooth sailing until I get to the decreases, then I'll have to put my thinking cap back on.

The Berroco order came in Friday and the new yarns are lovely. One of the more basic yarn seems to be everyone's favorite: Touche. It's a smooth blend of cotton and rayon with a beautiful texture. Boho (and Boho Multi Colors) is another beauty, it changes textures along it's length to create a self-striping yarn of different textures and colors.

09 March 06 - 19:44Berroco tomorrow

Have I mentioned I'm good at getting dates mixed up? The new Berroco will be in Friday, which is exactly what the e-mail from UPS told me. I had convinced myself that today was the 10th. So clever.

But we did get a couple of boxes in today from Knitting Fever, with new colors of Cathay. This stuff is just an amazing spring yarn, crisp and silky at the same time. I recommend our Athens tank pattern (a finer gauge version of the Savannah tank, DK instead of chunky weight), some of the new colors would make amazing stripe combos.

We also got in new colors of Daria, Noro's cotton/rayon cording. The new color for this season are delicious! You all need purses knit from them, right now!

08 March 06 - 22:24Southwest Trading Company

Look! Fabulous yarns from Southwest Trading Company arrived today! We received gorgeous multi colors in Bamboo (made from, well, bamboo), and Phoenix, a soy silk ribbon yarn. They both have amazing texture and color.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on these yarns, and started swatching right away. Luscious!

We also got in more buttons this morning, as well of a restock of our most popular color of sock yarn from Aurora. New Berroco yarns arrive Thursday, we'll be unpacking and pricing them all day. Just to give you an idea, the UPS e-mail said our boxes from Berroco weigh in at 150 pounds! That's some serious yarn! We're ready for it, though; on Monday and Tuesday we cleaned and re-arranged to make room for new arrivals, so things may look a tad empty in spots right now. Don't worry though, they won't for long!

Thanks so much to everyone who came to see us at our Anniversary sale this past Saturday! It was chaos, but we all had a great time. Can you believe it's been two years already?
