Join us at Stitch & Bitch tonight from 6 to 8:30pm. Bring your knitting and hand out with drinks, snacks, and conversation.
Here's a couple more pics from the Mason Dixon event:

I look like I'm trying to eat my dangly earring. But check out that mob of MDK fans!

Look Clare! You're on the "internets" again!
And, drumroll please....
Check back tomorrow for the unveiling of an exciting new Knit Nouveau pattern! I'm really proud of this one! You're gonna love it!
Stay tuned...

That's Ann! In our shop! It was so much fun! Last night was a great success; thank you so much to everyone who came out to welcome Ann & Kay. We were livin' it up with Moonpies, mimosas, and some fine company.

Ann & Kay brought tons of projects from the book to show us, and we got to poke and investigate and turn things over and look at how they were constructed. The projects are even lovelier (and sometimes wilder!) in person.
Ann & Kay talked about how they met, the beginnings of the book, the insanity of knitting models on a tight deadline (some pieces were photographed damp!), and how different techniques worked and how we could mix it up a little with basic techniques like log cabin knitting.
They also showed off some of their embarassing projects, like this Rowan sweater gone wrong:

And as if the night weren't exciting enough, we got to visit with Niblette Elise! That's a Mason Dixon bib! It's bigger than she is! And Ann & Kay joined right into baby cooing madness when Julie and Elise arrived, of course.

Ann & Kay are just as warm and friendly in person (and funny!) as their writing. It was a great visit, and now I want to knit even more things from their book. I started my mitered square afghan, and now I'm considering log cabins! Oy vey! They're brain-warshers, I tell ya!
I still have a few signed copies of Mason Dixon Knitting available, call if you want one reserved. I also have far too many Moonpies for one girl, so please come have a Moonpie and hang with me on the porch!
If anyone from last night's party has photos they wouldn't mind sharing, I'd love to see them! E-mail them to me at mercedes@knitnouveau.com, I have high-speed so bigger files aren't problem (just don't get silly!). Thanks y'all!

Here's a better picture of Blue Sky Dyed Organic Cotton:

And the amazing naturally colored Organic Cotton:

I'm making a cardigan with the Organic Cotton now, and it's so soft and easy to knit!
I also got in some of the smaller skeins of Euroflax linen for Mason Dixon washcloths and hand towels:

And the new SoySilk blend from K1C2, Wick:

I think this would be great for summer socks, because it wicks away moisture and has great elasticity!
See you tomorrow!

I'm proud to be the bearer of baby news! Elise Claire (AKA Niblette) Brock, Julie's new daughter, was born this evening. She weighed in at 8 pounds, 4 ounces, and measures 19 and 1/4 inches long (I think I got my statistics right, I had a bad phone connection with Julie's mother-in-law Rita). Welcome Niblette!!!
Join us at Stitch & Bitch tomorrow at 6pm; if I have any more baby & Julie news, I'll pass it on!

Batten down the hatches! Get candles and lanterns ready so you'll have light to knit by! Really, though, just stay dry and safe if the predicted bad weather hits.
We received more beautiful yarn today, in the form of the soft as a cloud Blue Sky Cotton and Organic Cotton. Both are organically grown cottons, but the "Organic"-ly named version comes in it's natural, straight-from-the-cotton-boll shades of ecru, tan, caramel, and sage. The dyed cottons are organically grown, then dyed to a wide range of colors.
I didn't have time to take pictures, so I copped some off of Blue Sky's website:

The new Spring Newsletter is up on the site now, snail mail versions are on their way, the official e-mail will go out this weekend.

The new Yarn Harlot book is here! Call me if you want me to hold a copy.

And, as promised, Rowan glamour shots. Here is the fabulously soft Calmer:

And the richly colored Summer Tweed:

And we received new yarns from Auracania this week!
New colors of Patagonia (check out that pink & olive combo on the right!):

And we received a few colors of the two new Auracania yarns, Pehuen & Quellon. Quellon is a rayon/cotton chenille, and Pehuen is a cabled cotton, both kettle dyed in matching colors:

We have new shades of Nature Cotton in, too!
For those who are wondering, yes, the April (and May!) schedule is in the works. I will have it up (and e-mailed) this weekend; and there's nothing going on this week, so you're not missing anything, I promise. Next Thursday is Stitch & Bitch, and the next beginner class is Saturday, April 15th, from 10:30 am to noon, taught by Karen.
