25 July 07 - 14:43Sock Yarn Central
It's feeling like Grand Central Station for socks around here! We've had two new arrivals today, Opal and Maizy!
Opal is a classic self-patterning sock yarn, an all-around favorite. I have the Rainforest colorways in stock; and of course I ordered extra of the Tiger pattern for you Auburn fans!

And I'm really excited about Maizy! It's sock yarn made from corn fiber, with elastic for great stretch. We have nine great colorways in stock; if you loved Panda Cotton, you need to try Maizy!

20 July 07 - 14:24New spindles!
The new shipment of Kundert spindles has arrived! Better than a bouquet of cut flowers:

And we have a new version of one of our old favorites to show off the Boatneck Tank, a Knit Nouveau original from our olden days three years ago:

This is a very simple knit, great for beginners, and can be knit in any worsted weight yarn that gives a gauge of 5 st/1".
The new issue of Knit Simple magazine is in stock, as well as two new Interweave Press titles, The Twisted Sisters Knit Sweaters and Getting Started Knitting Socks. I can't say enough great things about the new sock book, it is a great reference for a new sock knitter, and an experienced sock knitter could probably learn a few new tricks from it, too!

11 July 07 - 17:05Sock Boot Camp!

Attention Socknitter Recruits:
We will be holding Sock Boot Camp, a day of sock knitting demos, information, and sock-prizes this Saturday, July 14th, from 1000 hours to 1600 hours (that's 10am to 4pm), sponsored by Tofutsies Yarn! We will have Socknitting Sergeants to demonstrate several different sock knitting methods, including socks on two circulars and magic loop. We can then get you enlisted into your Sock Squad, the sock class or classes of your choice in the upcoming weeks. Class listings will be available the day of Boot Camp, no early-birds.
This event kicks off "Hot Socks in the Summer", a month of sock classes through July and August. Event Attendees get first priority class registration. Non-attendees (socknitter draft-dodgers!) will be able to register on Tuesday, July 17th; classes will be posted on the website after the event. Many classes may fill up this weekend, so why not come in and join the fun!
We will also be having a prize drawing for a great sock supply gift basket, as well as other sock prizes. Every purchase of a sock's worth of yarn (50g) gets you an entry into the drawing!
There is no need to make reservations for this weekend, this is a free event and sock demos will be happening all day long, demonstrated by many different knitters.
Fall out recruits, and report back at this weekend's Boot Camp!
