27 October 07 - 06:16Hemp, not-llama, and the coolest needles I've ever seen.
It finally feels like fall is here! I don't know about y'all, but I've pulled all my woolies out of the closet. Two days ago I counted how many handknit pieces I was wearing; four. Probably overkill, maybe not-so-fashionable, but I was blissfully warm. The weather has inspired another sweater, made from one of our new yarns, Hempwol, a blend of hemp and soft wool.

Here are all the lovely tweedy colors. And here's a pic of my sleeve in progress:

I'm experimenting with knitting an Elizabeth Zimmerman percentage method sweater in the round using the Magic Loop technique. So far, so good!
We also received a gorgeous handpainted cotton chenille from a company called the Purled Llama. It's a heavy worsted/bulky weight, try it in a Knitting Pure and Simple top down sweater! One hank will do a baby sweater up to an 18 month size.

And last, but not least, are the coolest double pointed needles ever:

Darn Pretty needles by Grafton Fibers (lounging on a bed of cream hempwol). Layers of colored woods, handturned with great points and a smooth finish. We have a full stock of 5" double points (but probably not for long!). They are available in other lengths as well as circulars, which I'm happy to special order (but be prepared for to wait a wee bit on orders, these are all handmade and popular, not a speedy combination!). I expect these to disappear quickly, so if you'd love a set, come in soon!

11 October 07 - 06:03Schedule Change...
Our November Stitch & Bitch date has changed! The new date is Wednesday, November 7th, from 6 to 8:30pm. We had a conflict with a downtown Homewood event. I'll post a reminder closer to the event, but mark your calendars.
We have pretty new yarns! I'll post pics later, but our shipment of gorgeous plant-dyed yarns from Hand Jive Knits has arrived. I'm working on a scarf in a glorious shade of sunflower yellow, and lovin' every stitch! This is a fingering weight, so it's great for socks, lace, and baby projects.
Also new, Hempwol, a 65/35 wool/hemp blend has arrived, and it's lovely. The hemp takes dye differently than the wool, so the effect is a subtle, earthy tweed. It has amazing yardage, too; 250 yds per ball, in worsted weight!
